4. Leave it

Dogs can smell distinct objects successfully than a human being. Not every dog would be aware of good and the bad things. It is important to train your dog to hold and leave the objects as you command, as it could play a major role in dog behavior.

Have a piece of meat and any non-edible thing at the same time.

Ensure the non-edible thing is attracted to dog by having a good meat smell

Give the non-edible thing to the dog and wait for it to chew for some time.

Offer the real piece of meat and keep repeating the command till it puts down and picks up the meat.
